Mukunda Das
  • Mukunda Das (22 February 1878 – 18 May 1934) was a renowned Bengali poet, ballad singer, composer, and patriot.
  • He played a significant role in the spread of swadeshi movement in rural bengal through his writings.
  • Born as Yajneshwar De in Dhaka, he later took the name Mukunda Das after his initiation into Vaishnavism.
  • His works, including his masterpiece ‘Matripuja’, emphasized patriotism and the freedom movement, aiming to free Bharat Mata from British imperialism.
  • His contributions to the cultural and patriotic fabric of Bengal are remembered and celebrated for their profound impact on the society of his time.
