Objectives of Mitra Shakti Exercise

This year’s exercise is the 10th edition, set to take place from August 12 to 25, 2024, at the Army Training School in Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka.
The Indian contingent includes 120 soldiers from the Rajputana Rifles, while the Sri Lankan side will have 120 soldiers from the Gajaba Regiment, both elite infantry units with specialized skills.
For the first time, military dogs or K9s are being actively involved in the exercise, highlighting their growing importance in modern military operations.
K9 Capabilities: Zac, a Belgian Malinois from the Indian Army, will showcase specialized skills such as laser-guided attacks, weapon retrieval, and explosive detection, adding a new dimension to the exercise.
