Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
- Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
- It was established in 1929 as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
- With its headquarters in New Delhi, ICAR plays a vital role in coordinating, guiding, and managing research and education in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and animal sciences across the country.

- ICAR’s research prowess has yielded an impressive 100 new seed varieties and 100 farm technologies within a record 100 days.
- Its commitment to climate resilience has led to the development of 2,593 high-yielding varieties, including 2,177 climate-resilient and 150 bio-fortified varieties.
- By embracing bio-fortification and climate-resilient technologies, ICAR has empowered farmers to cultivate a staggering 16 million hectares of land, ensuring a brighter future for Indian agriculture.
