Wire-tailed Manakin
- The Wire-tailed Manakin is a small bird just four inches in length approximately.
- It belongs to the Pipridae family.
- They live in the rainforests in and around the western Amazon basin.
- Their tails are very stiff which gives them their name “Wire-tailed”.
- They eat berries and fruits.
- The Wire-tailed male is very colorful.
- Each male has his own private dancing perch upon which he performs.
- The female bird builds the nest and brings up the young all by herself.
